Despite the richness of African American culture and history, many youth within our community face systemic barriers, including limited access to culturally relevant education, inadequate mentorship, and a lack of space that celebrate their heritage. This results in academic underachievement, diminished self-esteem, and a loss of connection to ancestral wisdom, hindering their potential to become future leaders.

Roots of Kin, created in partnership with community elders, builds a thriving and supportive community for African American families, fostering holistic academic and personal growth through culturally rich educational programs and intergenerational mentorship. We celebrate the depth and breadth of African American heritage through history, arts, and cultural studies, empowering youth to develop the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills necessary to excel in all aspects of life and become catalysts for positive change in their communities.
